Although I am afraid the game refuses to go above 3 GB of VRAM usage because I still have reason to believe it is optimizing my card to the 780 Ti. My VRAM usage was always below 40%, in fact I have begun modding the game (no compatibility problems yet, and have avoided mods that claim to have a significant performance impact) with high resolution variants just to make me feel better about proper VRAM usage. My GPU usage has never gone above 50%, even in the menu with an uncapped FPS.
The only place it seems to have an unlocked framerate is on the title screen and main menu. So I have seen it vary from (locked at) 72, 60, 36, 30, and at one point locked to 24 FPS. When playing the game, I get FPS in fractions of my monitor's refresh rate of 144 Hz. FO4 is saved to the NVMe drive to make quickloading and quicksaving as fast as possible. Specs of the computer I am playing on are in my signature. It is a binary variable, cap on/off, but I can easily restore if need be.) Just bought FO4 for PC because I own it on disk for Xbox and all my save files got corrupted, so I am starting anew on PC for the better modding experience.īut even though my card is a year old already, the game, upon using the launcher, throws errors that it doesn't recognize my GPU, and defaults to all low, and run the game as if I had a GTX 780 Ti (according to the Fallout4Pref.ini file, where I edited a line to remove the framerate cap of 30.
